Patriots Day Film Review
Patriots Day depicted the horrific events that took place during the Boston Marathon back in 2013, and demonstrated the courageous actions the city of Boston took in its aftermath. The film, starring Mark Wahlberg, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, and Kevin Bacon, followed the investigation of the ordeal. Indeed, the audience was treated to a gripping and suspenseful movie, as they watched the events unfold right in front of their eyes. From bloody confrontations to police manhunts, Patriots Day certainly gave the audience insight about what truly went into the investigation of the terrorist suspects and how they used help from everyone to catch them.
Undoubtedly, this movie was packed with emotion, which elevated it from a typical police drama. Although the subject matter was harrowing, the movie’s main message was that of resilience. The city of Boston unified to help one another when the tragedy struck, and that communal bond can never be broken. Particularly, I liked the conveyance of this idea, as it certainly demonstrated how unification after an incident is the best type of resilience. Overall, Patriots Day is certainly a film that will resonate with you long after you exit the theater!
