In 2004, Mean Girls premiered and altered popular culture in its wake. Quotes that have been integrated into pop-culture, “She doesn’t even go here” and “On Wednesdays we wear pink”, all originate from this teen movie. Thus, fans were excited when news of a remake of the movie, based on the broadway musical, was announced last year.
On January 12, 2024 the movie hit the big screens and fans went wild for the release. In the U.S. alone it grossed $60.8 million since its release in theaters. The movie features songs from the broadway musical including Apex Predator, World Burn, and many more from the theater production. Also, audiences were surprised that Linsay Lohan, who played the protagonist in the original 2004 version, played a small role in this year’s release for fans who would recognize her. Overall, the movie was loved by fans and offered a mostly accurate depiction of the 2004 original version.
Fans who haven’t yet gotten a chance to see the movie should plan to buy their tickets before the film leaves theaters at the end of this year.
