On October 11, 2024, Inhaler started their North American 2024 Tour. Inhaler is an Irish indie rock band that consists of members Elijah Hewson, Robert Keating, Josh Jenkins, and Ryan McMahon. The band got their group name due to Elijah’s asthma. The tour has recently sparked interest with the teasing of their upcoming third album. As a fan, I was excited to see them live in concert. While at the show, nothing could have prepared me for the amount of fun I was about to experience.
My show was on October 18th, so right after school, I went straight to Pier 17 in New York City to wait in line. Since the show was barricaded, it was first come first serve, meaning all you could do was wait in line before the show. Although the wait lasted around two hours, making friends in line helped pass the time quickly. After scanning the tickets, fans ran towards the stage, trying to be as close to the front as possible. Looking at the smiles on people’s faces, I felt a sense of community within the eager crowd.
The fans were ready to see Inhaler after the opener, The Benches. The swarm of people were nervously tapping their feet in anticipation. When the boys finally stepped on stage, the roars of the audience could be heard all throughout the city! The starting chords of These Are The Days stuck with the audience. The party had begun, and the mob of people started to dance. As the night continued, the cheers never disappeared. The energy was filled with love and admiration for the music playing, but before people knew it, the concert was ending. As the band played their last song, My Honest Face, the tears of pure bliss flowed through the audience.
Overall, this concert was one of the best I have ever attended. I saw a band I had been dreaming of seeing live and I made friends. Music is a powerful tool to bring people together. Who knows, maybe at your next concert, you will make a lifelong friend, and your world will be as changed as mine was!
