At the 2025 Grammys, Lady Gaga announced her new single “Abracadabra,” which is a single on her new upcoming album, “Mayhem,” out March 7. After its release, she soon rose back up the charts, hitting number one on Billboard Top 100. She also broke the Spotify record for most monthly listeners as a female artist. “Abracadabra” has become a massive hit, but its message is much deeper than what the song’s melody lets on.
“Abracadabra” is reminiscent of Gaga’s old work. After she dominated pop music in the late 2000s and early 2010s, Gaga shifted her sound. With Joanne, collaborations with Tony Bennett, and an acting career, it felt like the old Lady Gaga was gone. However, “Abracadabra” proves Gaga is ready to reclaim her title. The song was critically acclaimed upon release and quickly went viral on TikTok– it has currently been used in over 236,000 videos. The majority of the videos are of users recreating the music video’s choreography. Needless to say, her fans are happy that the old Lady Gaga is back.
