Ms. Shaver is a new English and E.S.L. teacher at North Arlington High school. She is an undergraduate from Penn State and a graduate from Seton Hall University. Ms. Shaver’s major in college was English with a Business minor. She has earned a teaching certificate from William Paterson. Before teaching at North Arlington high school, Ms. Shaver taught at William Paterson in Wayne, New Jersey, as an Academic Writing teacher. “I enjoy working with young people,” she says, and “I like helping them to learn to appreciate literature and express themselves clearly and creatively in their writing.”
As a novice teacher, Ms. Shaver is surprised by how much her students are getting done in her English 1, English 2, and E.S.L. classes. Ms. Shaver believes that the hardest thing about working at a new school is learning all the new systems, but the easy part is that the students and staff at NA high school are very friendly. Our school wishes Ms. Shaver the best during her first year at North Arlington High School.
