Anti-bullying week this year is from November 14-18, and many schools are persuading their students to be a part of this event. With the slogan “Stop and think – words can hurt” this year’s campaign is focused on tackling verbal bullying. One reason why bullies are not being punished is because the victims of the bullies are too scared to speak up and tell someone. It is a student’s right to inform someone of the bullying and share the incident with others. It is very crucial to get students involved in the school’s anti-bulling policy in order to ensure them that they can stop the bullying before it worsens by actually doing something about it.
If bullying is not stopped, the effects can last for a long time and the emotional scar may never heal. Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior towards particular victims because of something that they do not accept. Abusive, emotional, verbal, and physical bullying are the four different types of bullying that has been increasing significantly in the last few years. According to statistics from the Family First Aid organization website, “Almost 30 percent of teens in the United States (or over 5.7 million) are estimated to be involved in school bullying as either a bully, a target of teen bullying, or both.” This November, North Arlington High School is going to do its best to stop bullying and have a positive outlook on life.
