Weather in the Tri-state area has been a shock this winter season. With the extremely unexpected October blizzard, many thought that this winter would be even more intense than last year’s record breaking snow falls. It has turned out to be quite the contrary, besides the Halloween storm there hasn’t been a major snow fall yet this year. This year has been much milder. During this winter, there have been scattered days where the temperature has reached 60 degrees. Most people thought that since we had snow as early as October that we’d have snow all winter long.
Unlike the eastern United States, Europe has seen record snow fall totals this year. Over three feet of snow have accumulated within the last few weeks in many eastern European countries. This cold wave has killed hundreds of people because of the extreme low temperatures that have dipped below 30 degrees Celsius. Let’s hope temperatures begin rising soon in the European continent!
