This year’s Grammys were very exciting, and took place on February 10, in Los Angeles, California. This year there were many decent songs, but there were only some artists that deserved a Grammy.
The record of the year went to the song “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye featuring Kimbra. The album of the year went to “Babel” by Mumford and Sons, a popular folk rock band. The song of the year went to “We Are Young” by the popular indie pop band fun. The best new artist also went to fun., which was well deserved because they have produced two full length studio albums, with their newest being Some Nights, and were nominated for 4 other Grammys as well.
The best pop solo performance went to Adele for her song “Set Fire To The Rain.” The best pop duo/group performance went to Gotye featuring Kimbra for their song “Somebody That I Used To Know.” The best pop vocal album went to former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, for her album “Stronger.” Although there were many winners in other categories, these were the main Grammys given out during the awards ceremony.
There were also some artists who performed, such as: Taylor Swift, fun., Mumford and Sons, Alicia Keys & Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran & Elton John, and a return from Justin Timberlake featuring Jay-Z. This was a big night for artists like Gotye and fun. because of their newly acclaimed mainstream success. I, for one, am excited to see what new music will be coming out in 2013.
