On Thursday April 18, 2013 the National Honor Society visited the Museum of Natural History in New York City. The students and teachers left early Thursday morning to beat the morning traffic into the city and to get more time to explore the exhibits. The museum is four floors high, as a result it is usually suggested for most to visit the museum twice or even three times to ensure they visit all the museum has to offer. “Even though we were at the museum for about 4 hours we didn’t even see most of the exhibits. It’s enormous!” said NHS member Mackenzie Cutruzzula.
Among the exhibits displayed at the museum are the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, the Hall of Biodiversity and the Hall of North American Forests. “My favorite exhibit was definitely the Hall of Dinosaurs. It’s always crazy to imagine these immense creatures once roamed the earth!” recalled active NHS member Natalie LaBarbera. During the trip, the NHS students ate at the food court in the museum where they had various options for lunch that ranged from Clam Chowder to wraps. However, fellow member, Robert Treanor, had this piece of advice, “I would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in visiting the museum to either bring their lunch or go eat somewhere outside the museum because the food there can get pretty pricey.” All in all, the trip was truly a great success!
