On April 25, 2013, the freshman class celebrated Pay It Forward Day by spreading kindness across the school. After watching the movie of the same name, the students were asked to come up with ideas of their own. From nice texts to helping hands all freshmen were involved. It was a great day to be a Viking with all hands on deck.
The freshmen and their mentors were rewarded for all their hard work with a pizza party and a movie viewing. In the movie, Haley Joel Osment’ s character is given an assignment to devise and put into action a plan that will change the world for the better. Osment’s plan is a charitable program based on the networking of good deeds. He calls his plan “Pay It Forward”, which means the recipient of a favor does a favor for three others rather than paying the favor back. Our own freshmen were put to the same test. They rose to the occasion and set the precedent for the rest of the school. Teacher mentor, Mrs. Tomko said, “The day was a big success and all the students learned valuable lessons.” The students will continue to spread kindness and pay it forward.
