As we all know, former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was suspended indefinitely for striking his then fiancée Janay Palmer in an Atlantic City casino elevator. Now, the NFL Players Association, along with Rice, is arguing that this tape was edited and made it seem that the attack was violent. The NFLPA will try to get the $3.529 million salary that Rice was supposed to receive for this season as well as try to reinstate and get him back on the field.
On top of this, the NFL would be violating the collective bargaining agreement which says that only one punishment is acceptable for a first time offense. However, NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, sent the NFLPA a letter saying that Rice’s second punishment was appropriate due to the new footage of the incident and how it differed from Rice’s recollection of the events that night. The NFL has 10 days to set the date for the hearing.
