On Sunday, February 8, 2015 the 57th Annual Grammy Awards aired on ABC. Some of the hottest stars were honored this year with performances by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, Madonna, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and many more. However, this year Sam Smith dominated the award show. This soulful British artist broke through this year with four Grammy awards. He won best new artist, best pop album, and overall best record. Also, his hit single Stay With Me won best song of the year. Sam Smith has made such an impression on the world, that we will be hearing a lot from him as years go on.  After a couple of weeks, the Oscars also aired on ABC at 8:30 P.M. Hollywood’s stars  strode down the red carpet for the 2015 Academy Awards. There were many outstanding  performances this year by Lady Gaga, John Legend, and more. Eddie Redmayne accepted the Oscar for best actor – he plays the lead role in the movie Theory of Everything. He also thanked several important people that helped him through it all and stated, “ This belongs to all of those people around the world battling ALS.” While, Julianne Moore won best actress for Still Alice. Birdman was also a highlight of the evening ranking up several Oscars. Alejandro González Iñárritu (director) accepted the award for best picture. This movie took home three other Oscars: best director, best original screenplay, and best cinematography.
