As you may have heard, the Izod Center in East Rutherford is shutting down after 34 years. The closure of this iconic New Jersey arena was announced back in January. Now, the Prudential Center will be the main venue in New Jersey for concerts and other events. Bruce Springsteen performed the first concert at The Izod Center on July 2, 1981. Recently, pop-rock hit maker, Maroon 5, performed the last concert at the arena. It’s truly the end of an era for the popular venue, as famous people such as Whitney Houston, Queen, Frank Sinatra, and many others have played shows at this arena.
Maroon 5 definitely did the Izod Center justice during their concert. They played all of their hit songs, including fan favorites from their freshman album, Songs About Jane. Adam Levine and his band had everybody on their feet, singing and dancing along. The concert was simply spectacular, and didn’t disappoint avid fans, such as myself. Maroon 5 was the perfect band to close the arena. As I have been to many concerts at the Izod Center before, it was sad exiting the arena when the show was over. Overall, the Izod Center had a good run, and will always be remembered as one of New Jersey’s best arenas!
