Grease: Live
Grease: Live was a television special that was broadcasted by Fox on January 31. It was a live, televised adaptation of the 1971 musical Grease. According to the website, thewrap.com, the live show “landed 12.2 million viewers when it aired on Jan. 31, handing Fox first place in both overall audience size and the key 18-49 demographic with a 4.3 rating.” Even though nothing can quite compare to the Broadway musical or the 1978 movie, the performance that was put on was nothing short of incredible! One thing that made the special come together was the casting. The actors that were selected did a fantastic job of looking and owning their part. Julianne Hough’s, Sandy, Aaron Tveit’s, Danny Zuko and Vanessa Hudgens,’ Rizzo, made Fox’s three-hour production one to remember.
To continue, there was never a dull moment when it came the singing and dancing. Actress Vanessa Hudgens amazed me the most out of all of the actors as she put on a dazzling performance just after bearing the news that her father passed away from stage 4 cancer. It was clear that her heart and soul was poured into the performance that she dedicated to her father. That night, Vanessa was reborn as a star! If you missed that television special, you can catch it on demand or on fox.com. If you enjoyed the live special, you can watch a special encore of Grease: Live on March 27th.
