The Zodiac Killer – Enigma Takes Another Twist
The Zodiac Killer, who struck terror into the San Francisco communities in the late 1960s, is known as one of America’s most prolific serial murderers. Between 1968 and 1969, this mystifying killer was connected to five murders. However, his brutal slayings and impenetrable riddles have always presented an enigma to law enforcement. Unlike most serial killers, The Zodiac Killer antagonized authorities with intricate and extremely sophisticated riddles composed of complex ciphers.
Undoubtedly, because of how scrupulous and puzzling the murderer was, the investigation still remains open to this day. Nonetheless, last month, law enforcement claims to have discovered the identity of the killer. The Case Breakers – a group of more than 40 former law enforcement investigators, journalists and military intelligence officers – have, in fact, matched the identity of the Zodiac Killer to Gary Francis Poste, an air force veteran that passed away in 2018.
This break in the cold case comes after the team uncovered new forensic evidence and matched a scar on the sketch of the Zodiac to Poste. Additionally, the investigators were also able to decipher many of the letters that the killer left behind to find out his identity.
This revelation may bring closure to those close to the victims.
