April 26th is a day to recognize animals and children. Both children and pets provide happiness and help to the world. Children provide a sense of joy and give a greater meaning to life. Pets, almost like people’s children, offer boosts in mood, companionship, unconditional love, etc.
Being a parent gives a brand new perspective on everything. This includes work perspective, perspective on the world, perspective on other people. Many parents say having a child gives a new purpose for life. Before children, the purpose in life was either gaining money, buying a house, an expensive car, or having a child. Now, their purpose is to make sure their son or daughter is safe and sound every night as they go to sleep.
Children help the world in many different ways, here are some: Showing kindness to all, taking care of the local parks, protecting the environment, bringing happiness to the elderly, and helping animals. Sometimes children do even more to bring positivity to the world than today’s adults. Therefore, children can be our “little heroes”.
Pets, too, are very important to the world. The power of pets compares very closely with having children. Pets offer unconditional love as loyal companions. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, animals also reduce anxiety and stress levels. Pets have even been known to lower blood pressure greatly. Other studies done on pets have found that taking care of a pet reduces the likelihood of depression creating a support system for their owners.
Studies done on children with dogs have also been done. According to the National Library of Medicine, having a dog in a classroom increases children’s good behavior. One study came with the result that children with ADHD perform better and are more focused during lessons. Another stated children on the autism spectrum were calmer and had fewer outbreaks during class time. It has also been found that having a class pet encourages students to collaborate. National Kids and Pets Day is the best way to give acknowledgement to your daughter, son, dog, cat, or any child or pet – kindness and words of affirmation work best.
