A new standardized test named The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, commonly known as the PARCC exam, has been put into effect in the state of New Jersey. The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers test is computer based, and is very different from your average paper-and-pencil test. With a math and language arts section, the PARCC test is designed to help students get ready for college and careers. The PARCC is rigorous, difficult, and requires a great deal of diligence in order to be completed successfully. This test also demands a significant amount of concentration from all of the students while reading all of the texts, as well as, all of the questions.
From the viewpoint of a student who took the practice language arts section of the PARCC, the test is challenging. There are several passages that students are required to read critically and analyze. Besides multiple choice questions, students also must compose essays, drag information into graphic organization charts, and highlight certain sentences in the passages provided. The PARCC isn’t a simple multiple choice test. This new generation of standardized tests differs greatly from previous tests that students took in the past. The test has great skills that help with collegial preparations. It’s a very interactive test. Overall, the PARCC test isn’t something that should be taken lightly.
