Dim Sum Parlor
Need a nice place to try some Dim Sum? Come by Nom Wah Tea Parlor, New York Chinatown’s first Dim Sum Parlor since 1920! With its bustling, family-friendly atmosphere, it offers quality food expected at a Dim Sum restaurant without the hassle and language barrier. Instead of waiting for each cart to be rolled around, you are provided with a menu where you can check off everything you want to order. Along with the many types of tea, Nom Wah offers a variety of food for a tea parlor. Not only can you order your classic Dim Sum dishes like dumplings and rolls, you can also get yummy desserts like almond cookies and (my favorite) fried sesame balls with lotus paste. Not a fan of Dim Sum? The tea parlor also has classic Chinese dishes like fried rice and broccoli in oyster sauce.
Nom Wah is a tea parlor much different from the ones I was used to. I really enjoyed the ability to order without having to learn any Cantonese or having to point in order to choose my dim sums. The food was delicious, freshly prepared for each order, especially the soup dumplings, which are uncommon in many restaurants. Overall, going to Nom Wah Tea Parlor was a pleasant experience. I would totally visit it again.
