Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s Playstation are undoubtedly the giants of the gaming market as of now, but with these two rivaling companies vying for the crown, it’s become hard to decide which console is preferred by gamers. Major things like exclusive titles and services make some platforms more appealing than others. Here are some pros and cons to each platform.
One thing that would sway people over into Xbox’s side is Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass is a subscription based model, which is priced lowest at $9.99/mo. Game Pass allows subscribers to play a vast range of games provided, currently over 300 titles are available including Games from the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the current gen Xbox Series X. This includes Triple A games like Starfeild, Fallout, and Skyrim to name a few. Another thing that Microsoft’s Xbox Series X has over their competitor is backwards compatibility. Backwards compatibility allows games made for older consoles to be playable on the latest one, and for the Xbox over 5,000 Titles can be played from older models which beats Playstations no backward compatibility.
However, Playstation beats Xbox in one major category, which is exclusive titles. Compared to Xbox, which has never managed to have a grand exclusive library, Playstation has giants like God of War, and Spiderman locked on their platform. These massive titles alone bring massive attention and profit to Sony, in fact, the recently released Spider-Man 2 became Playstation’s fastest selling game in 24 hours with 2.5 million copies sold. Players who want to play these titles now, without the additional expense for a PS5, will have to wait years for the title to make it to PC, unlike Xbox’s “exclusives” like Starfeild already available on the PC market mere weeks after being released.
