North Arlington High School’s band is becoming bigger and better. As the years go by, everyone can see a significant improvement in the Marching Band. Band members work energetically at the football games to give a good half-time performance, keep their counts tight and make sure their songs sound as good as the real thing.
This year, the band is playing three well known songs: Born This Way, Forget You, and Raise Your Glass. Band members practice every day of the week, Monday through Friday, in order to make their performances sound perfect.
This year, as with every year, there are a few new members ranging from freshmen to juniors. Many seniors are also members of the band this year. As a matter of fact, senior Megan Namnama is this year’s drum major. One of Mr. Kastner’s quotes for the year is, “My only obstacle is my attitude” and he makes sure band members remember this after every game. He always tells the students to give 100%, whether it is at practice, at a game, or any place they’re playing. Ms. Corcoran’s contribution is also crucial for the success of the band. She works with Mr. Kastner every day to ensure all of the performances are in tune.
Let’s not forget another important part of the marching band, The Color Guard. The color guard is very special to the marching band as all its members wave their beautiful flags in their shining uniforms. The captain of the team is senior Sara Olson and junior Jennifer Medeiros is the co-captain. The color guard also practices every day just like the band.
The Marching band and Color Guard members are doing their best and working harder than ever to give us all great performances. They will surely not disappoint us.
