The North Arlington Boys Soccer team qualified for the state tournament for the 3rd consecutive year. Two seasons ago, the team earned a by-round and advanced to play the 2nd round. The team that they lost to was Whippany Park with a score of 4-1. Last season, the boys won an intense home game against Secaucus in overtime for the 1st round of states, and then lost again in the 2nd round to New Providen
This year, the soccer team had a similar outcome to the last two years. They played against North 13th Street from Newark and played their good style of soccer. Having players like John Cerisola, Tyler Krychkowski, Jon Gonzalez, Jordan Henriques and Robert Marrero changed up the game completely. These players have been a part of the state qualifying teams for the previous 2 years and are very experienced. Controlling the game and dominating the outcome a majority of the time, Tyler Krychkowski, Jon Gonzalez and Danny Cordeiro all scored to secure the victory of 3-1. Making it to the second round of states the boys played the number 1 seed Harrison. Losing 2-0 to Harrison, the boys didn’t hang their heads down knowing that they gave it their all.
They are a very young team but that only proves one very important thing. If we can have a good season with a young team, imagine the outcome when the team is more experienced. The soccer program in the town of North Arlington is only getting stronger, and it’s even starting a new spring league for the Boys and Girls. The Boys Soccer team had a very successful season.
