The North Arlington boys track team has really taken off this year. Splitting even last year at the Dual meets and finishing out the year 4 and 4, the boys track team is currently 4 and 2, beating Becton, Wallington, Wood-Ridge and Queen of Peace. Dual meets is just one of the areas where the boys track team has improved. At relays, the boys have medaled at every meet they have competed in.
Records are being broken and chased this year on the track. Danny Cordeiro, who is a sophomore, is the new record holder for the 1600m with a time of 4:47. Jon
Gonzalez, Tyler Krychkowski, Travis Orovio and Thai Scott are training to beat the 4×2 record and recently missed the record by .4 of a second. Also, Jon Gonzalez, Tyler Krychkowski, Thai Scott and Danny Cordeiro are training to beat the Sprint Medley record – they have missed beating the record by 4 seconds. Jordan Henriques, Jesse Groome, Tre Crain, James Awad, Robert Marrero and Jon Gonzalez are all having a great year by placing at relays in the Javelin and in the Discus. Michael Clifford, Travis Orovio and Danny Cordeiro have all placed in the Pole Vault.
The boys track team is very pleased to see the number of students who have come out this year to run and compete, especially the ninth graders. The program is extremely rigorous and it only looks for one thing at the end of the season – success. For a schedule of the boys track team, please visit www.HighSchoolSports.net .
