The Volleyball team’s season has just begun and is already looking better than last year. This year’s team is led by 3 senior captains: Mary Smykowski, Katie Rouski, and Amy Lin. Other senior varsity players include Natalie LaBarbera, Angelina Tedesco, Kassandra Rodriguez, and Kiana Ortega. The varsity volleyball team is coached by Mrs. Bernadette Afonso, formerly known as Ms. Fash, who is also a Math teacher at N.A.H.S. When asked about her goals for this season, she stated, “We want to be competitive in the league and we want to qualify for state playoffs.”

Mrs. Afonso stressed that team leadership is the key for winning. Her strategy for success entails good communication and consistency. She also feels that the upperclassmen will lead this team in their games. This season is looking promising for the volleyball lady Vikings – the team has already matched last season’s win total. Be sure to support the girls by attending all of the games.
