Marvin Caballero is certainly an underclassman who stands apart from the rest. Having assimilated well into the North Arlington High School community, Marvin is one of two freshmen to play for the boy’s varsity soccer team. When asked how the season went for him, Marvin had this to say, “It was tough. The level of soccer is a big change from playing club soccer. This season has changed how I see and play the game.” In next year’s season, Marvin hopes to be, “a standout player and possibly gain a leadership position so I can impact on the game and team.” He also added that he hopes to improve his game.
Having devoted much of his life to soccer, Marvin also plays for a try-out based club, the Clifton Stallions. When asked what club he would play for if he could go pro, he quickly answered, “Real Madrid – it’s one of the greatest teams in the world. They are home to some of the most talented players and coaches in the world, like Cristiano Ronaldo.” In addition to being hard-working on the field, Marvin is also just as diligent in the classroom. He is an all honors student with his favorite subject being Geometry Honors, taught by Coach Dembowski. Marvin had this to say about the situation, “Having Coach Dembowski as a teacher allows me to learn from him in a different way and light.”
In summation, Marvin Caballero is sure to continue prospering throughout the rest of his high school career. This extraordinary player lives by the words of football player, Emmitt Smith, “All men are created equal, some just work harder in the offseason.” It is this dedication and determination that will rocket Marvin to achieve whatever he sets his mind to, the Vikings are sure to be rooting him on in all he does academically and athletically.
