The N.A.H.S girls’ track team recently competed in their last league meet of the season on Thursday, May 1st. Regarding her thoughts on the team’s overall performance, Coach Afonso stated that although there were not as many girls on the team as in recent years, their hard work and dedication led to a more than successful season.
The girls finished off the year with a record breaking number of points scored in meets; over 500 in total. The team’s top contributors were seniors Kali Orovio, Cristina Nardini, Alex Sperandeo, and sophomore Kayleigh Lavornia. These four girls will be competing in the upcoming county states meets.
Having exceeded their coach’s high expectations this year, the girls’ track team has set the bar pretty high for next season. Coach Afonso stated that she is, “excited to have a good number of underclassmen returning to the team next year.” Without a doubt, the girls will be successful in their approaching post-season competitions. Good luck girls!
