NAHS Football Team Victorious!
The Vikings are victorious! Now that football season has ended, it’s time to talk about our Homecoming win! It was a wonderfully cool fall day on October 4th, as the Viking Football Team took the field for the homecoming game. As is tradition, the band, color guard, cheerleaders, and homecoming court marched in a parade to the field to support the team who was up against Elmwood Park Memorial High School.
There was hope in the air as the first play happened on the field, and before everyone knew it, the boys were scoring. Touchdown after touchdown, the points came rolling in as the game unfolded. By the time the dust had settled, the score was 22-12. The Vikings had earned their first win of the season as members of the Pit rushed onto the field after the game ended, surrounding the team and parading them with yells and cheers to celebrate.
The Vikings scored a second win when they went up against Saddle Brook High School two weeks later. That cold and chilly night, the Vikings managed to pull through, fighting hard even when the scores got close. Our valiant team was victorious with a final score of 16-14. Overall, it was certainly one of the best seasons the Vikings have seen in a while, and everyone is extremely proud of the team! Here’s what two players had to say about the season:
Jeremiah Mercado, Captain, discussed how the team was able to pull it all off, “We had a good game plan, the coaching staff was different this year. We executed it right and defensively, we did our job.”
Chris Stirone, Senior player, commented about his favorite game, “Elmwood Park was my favorite game, it was our first win in like a thousand days.”
