Senior Achievements – Joey Witt & Jordyn Nelson

One of things that defines school pride in North Arlington High School is the sports programs.  These programs bring together all the athletes from different teams to represent not only our school, but our town as well.  Two outstanding senior athletes who received recognition recently are Joey Witt and Jordyn Nelson. They proved that they are incredible student athletes.

Joey Witt, #13, is the starting quarterback for our Varsity Football team and has been playing football for 12 years while also playing basketball and baseball as well.  Joey was one of the nominees in a poll for North Jersey’s Football Player of the Week, and won in Week 5. When asked what his favorite moment was with his team, he responded with, “My favorite moment was after the Fort Lee game, when my teammates and I were really excited. It was a huge win and probably one of the most exciting games I’ve ever been a part of.”  I also asked him if he planned on playing football in college and he answered with, “My main sport for college is baseball but I would like to play both if I am able to.”

Jordyn Nelson is also one of North Arlington’s soccer stars wearing  #17 on the field as a midfielder and forward attacker.  She has been playing soccer ever since she was 5 years old.  Other than soccer, Jordyn also plays basketball and does track.  Jordyn was put on a poll for the Top 85 Girls Soccer Seniors in New Jersey, Jordyn garnered 5,146 votes in the poll and landed herself in the Top 6. When asked what her favorite moment was with her team, she responded by recalling, “My favorite moment with my team would have to be beating Immaculate Conception in my freshman and sophomore year because of the ongoing rivalry between our schools.”  When questioned on whether or not she’s planning to play soccer in college, Jordyn confirmed that she does indeed plan on continuing to play.

Congratulations to these two seniors and their amazing achievements throughout high school.  They definitely are prime examples of the caliber of athletes this school develops as they continually show their Viking pride.  Everyone here at North Arlington High School wishes them the best of luck in college!
