Super Bowl LVI
This year, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams played in the 2022 Super Bowl. The LA Rams took home the victory with a score of 23-20. This is the second year in a row where a team got to play in its own stadium. The game began with Mickey Guyton performing the National Anthem. Next, the Bengals beat the Rams in the traditional coin toss.
Fun Fact! For the past seven years, whoever won the coin toss would end up losing the Super Bowl.
This was a back-and-forth game, where each team had the potential to win. Dwayne Johnson came out and made his appearance, along with other celebrities in the crowd including Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Kanye West, and many others. Next, the Super Bowl finally began.
In the first half of the game, the LA Rams scored the first touchdown when Odell Beckham Jr. caught the ball. The Rams had begun to take the lead, until one small mistake that almost cost them the game. The Rams did not get the extra point in the second quarter, as Sean McVay dropped the ball, and the Rams missed the PAT (Points After Touchdown). This caused the Bengals to make a comeback and this led to a score of 16-20, with the Bengals in the lead. After a few more plays, the first half ended.
Next came the halftime show. The show was performed by rappers including Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and special guest 50 Cent. The show ran for about 15 minutes, with performers singing some of their best hits. Dr. Dre began the show by introducing Snoop Dogg, and then bringing out 50 Cent. Mary J. Blige put on her performance and the halftime show continued with Kendrick Lamar and Eminem. The final part of the show was when all the stars came on stage and sang together. Then, the second half of the game began.
At the beginning of the third quarter, the Bengals were still in the lead and the Rams were four points down. Cincinnati tried to keep themselves on top, but the Rams eventually made the final touchdown of the game, and this time got the extra point. By this time, there was only two minutes left in the game, and the Bengals were down by 3 points. This led to the Rams winning Super Bowl LVI. In this intense, back-and-forth game, the Los Angeles Rams captured the Lombardi Trophy with a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
