The 2024 Stadium Series has come and gone with jaw-dropping spectaculars all over. The struggling NJ Devils were set to face the flourishing Philadelphia Flyers in a match that decided the point difference between both teams. The game was on Saturday the 17th. With 70,000 people in attendance, the NJ Devils were able to defeat the Flyers with a score of 6-3. Goals were scored by Nate Bastian with 2, Nico Hischer with 2, Brendan Smith with 1, Tyler Toffoli with 1, and for the Flyers, Owen Tippett scored 2 and Nick Seeler scored 1. This game added 2 points to the Devils’ tally making them 2 points short of passing the Flyers in the standings.
The second night had the leading team of the Metro division, the NY Rangers versus the NY Islanders. The game started quickly with the Islanders tallying 3 goals in the first period to the Rangers 1. Over 80,000 fans started losing hope until the Rangers scored 2 in the second half to make the score 4-3 Islanders. The game ended with an unbelievable score of 6-5 Rangers with 3 goals to return for the win. This win keeps them steady at the top of the Metro.
In total 150,000 people went to both games with thousands more watching at home. These games only happen in the NJ/NY area every 10 or more years so many took their chance and went to the game.
