The Freshman Girls’ volleyball game against Wallington High School on Friday, October 11, 2024, ended successfully as the North Arlington team, led by Coach Grodziak, brought home another victory bringing their score up to 7 wins against 6 losses this season.
Hosted by Wallington, the North Arlington team won both game sets, and a third additional “fun” set up to 15 points. The first set of the game ended at 25-16, the second at 25-17, and the third at 15-4. Each point for North Arlington was gained by a series of passes, sets, and hits by each player working together as teamwork is one of the main parts of volleyball. While each point is gained with the help of others on the court, the players who won the points throughout the game are Abigail Cubero, Emma Hajdu, Sara Noka, Alyssa Costa, Marie Roufaeil, Taylor Todechine, Tola Trzaska, and Sophia Perdomo. The remaining players who also played a key role are Samantha Morillo, Layra Aguayo, Joana Filipe, Gabriela Perez Escobar, and Domenica Aristizabal.
The remaining home game at NAHS is against Rutherford on October 28 – which also happens to be the season’s last game. In addition, there will be a tournament with nine other schools in Morris County on October 19, and Dumont on October 21. This new generation of volleyball players is moving along smoothly and will likely continue doing so the next fall season in JV or Varsity.
