Thomas Tuchel had just signed with Bayern Munich in 2023 but was let go earlier this year, even after winning the league the previous season. Since then, it’s been very quiet about which team the German would lead next, but it’s recently been confirmed that he will be England’s new manager for the next 18 months, starting January 1st, 2025.
Tuchel has a promising history as a manager, winning nine major trophies while managing five teams. Of course, coaching a national team is a difficult task that contains a lot of pressure, but Tuchel feels confident and prepared. Diversely, England fans are not feeling as assured about the move. When talking with reporters, Thomas Tuchel replies to the criticism by stating, “I am sorry I have a German passport. Maybe these supporters felt my passion for the Premier League and the country, how I love to live here and work here. Hopefully, I can convince them and show them how proud I am to be the England manager. I am proud.” Tuchel refers to his successful time managing Chelsea Football Club as an example of his past achievements while working in England.
The question now is how well Thomas Tuchel will manage this team. Past manager Gareth Southgate was not appreciated by England fans, so hopefully, Tuchel can be the exception. The passion for soccer in England is clearly shown, as it is their main sport, with Premier League games being next door to some locals. This can apply even more pressure on the German coach, but he is confident in his plan for the team.
