College Football is the next best thing to the NFL. It shows the best of the best football athletes that could potentially enter the NFL. These athletes all play for their college team and those colleges are put into conferences. Those conferences are Conference USA(CUSA), American, Mountain West, the Big 12, the Big Ten, Atlantic Coast Conference(ACC) ACC, Southeastern Conference(SEC), Sun Belt, Southwestern Athletic Conference(SWAC), and Mid-American Conference(MAC). All of these conferences have a certain number of teams in them that play for the Conference Championship during the regular season. This is another opportunity for the teams to prove themselves and play for a title.
The games were played on December 6 and December 7. On December 6, the championships that were played on December 6 were the CUSA(Conference USA) Championship, the American Championship, and the Mountain West Championship. Jacksonville(Jax) State University beat Western Kentucky(WKU) 52-12 for the CUSA Championship. For the American Conference Championship, Army ranked 24 beat Tulane 35-14. The third game on December 6 was for the Mountain West Championship. Boise State, ranked 10 beat UNLV ranked 20, 21-7. The three games were top entertainment for the sixth and allowed the Conference Championships to begin.
The next day was even more intense. There were seven games played on the seventh. Those games were for the Big 12 Championship, the MAC Championship, the SWAC Championship, the SEC Championship, the Sun Belt Championship, the ACC Championship, and the Big Ten Championship. The Big 12 Championship went to number 15 Arizona State, who beat number 16 Iowa State 45-19. The MAC Championship was won by Ohio State who beat Miami OH 38-3, not even letting them score a touchdown. Jackson State beat Southern University 41-13, to take the SWAC Championship. Number five Georgia beat the number two team Texas 22-19 to take the SEC Championship, Georgia and Texas even went into overtime to find their conference champion. The Sun Belt Championship was won by Marshall over Louisiana, the final score was 31-3. The ACC championship was helped by two ranked teams where the underdog won, number 17 Clemson beat number 8 SMU(Southern Methodist University) 34-31. The final game was the Big Ten Championship which was won by number one Oregon State over number three Penn State, 45-37. These games caused a chaotic Saturday and allowed for a very exciting day for college football fans.
The games were exciting and the rivalries were once again at their peak!
