There is no doubt that in high school we go through a lot of stress. Freshmen year students are just entering high school and sophomore year they’re just settling in. Junior year is centered on HSPA
preparation and senior year students have many things to worry about like keeping up their grades, figuring out what college they want to attend, filling out college applications and getting a high score on the SAT’s.
The Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT is one thing that is definitely a stress factor in high school. It is close to a 5 hour test that puts your mind straight to work and when you are done, you’re exhausted! In order to register for the SAT, students must pay $49.00 dollars. If you’re not a good test taker or think that it is not fair that you only get tested in Reading, Writing and Math then there is way out of taking your SAT’s.
The ACT consists of subject area tests in English, Math, Reading, Science and a Writing test that is optional. The ACT includes 215 multiple choice questions and takes less time to finish than the SAT. It takes approximately 3 hours and 30min to finish and an extra 30 minutes if you take the writing portion. Most colleges accept the ACT and take a close look at the writing portion. You might be asking, is the ACT cheaper than the SAT? Well, the answer is yes – if you are taking the ACT without the writing portion the cost is $34.00; however, with the writing portion it increases to $49.50.
