North Arlington High School helps students preparing for college level courses by offering six AP classes. These AP classes include Literature, Calculus, European History, US History, Biology, and Statistics. Currently enrolled in these classes are about 55 of our students at NAHS. There are 13 students in Literature, 14 in Calculus, 3 in European History, 1 in US History, 18 in Biology and 6 in Statistics.
These students prepare all year for the AP Exams that have been held for the past few days. AP courses are very rewarding because students may receive college credits for them. If students decide that they might not be able to pass the exam in May or just want to pay for the credits, they can also do so through the Farleigh Dickinson Middle College Credit Program that North Arlington High School also offers.
The highest grade a student can get on the exam is a 5. Usually, the colleges will accept credits for the class if a student receives a score of at least a 3 or 4. AP classes can be somewhat stressful throughout the year because they are a demanding type of class just like they would be in a real college setting. However, the students who enroll in these classes are aware of this and work diligently all year to retain as much information they can in preparation for the big test toward in May.
