It’s halfway to summer and it’s the time of the year when seniors have a bad case of what is known to be called “senioritis”. Senioritis consists of the words senior and the suffix -itis used in the United States and Canada to describe the decreased motivation toward studies displayed by students who are nearing the end of their high school career. Amy Lin, senior at NAHS stated, “Don’t get senioritis, because once you do, it is really difficult to get back on track and stay alert and focused for the remainder of the school year.” Having said this, students should try to prevent senioritis by staying focused and not losing the willpower and determination to stay successful towards the end of their senior year. Mackenzie Cutruzzula, NAHS senior track member states, “Don’t let senioritis get to you with the spring sports season coming up, so continuing to stay focused will prevent sports season to lack in their winning streak.”
There are numerous ways one can stay focused the last few months of their senior year such as, stay on top of your work, create rewards for yourself, create schedules, get plenty of sleep, and get active or continue staying active in sports, clubs, work, or activities. Graduation is three months away seniors, with events such as prom and class night and college acceptances on the way – so stay alert and enjoy the high school experience while it lasts.
