On April 15, 2013 a day that was supposed to be filled with laughing, cheering, and chants of victory sadly turned into a day filled with much grief and sadness worldwide. A tragic bombing took place at the finish line of the Boston Marathon which has led to numerous deaths and injuries amongst hundreds of people. This tragic event affected not only the families and friends who were at the marathon, but everyone around the world. To show our school’s support, the North Arlington High School Student Council held a bake sale to honor all of the victims in Boston. The bake sale was held on May 8th, 2013 after school where everyone was able to contribute and donate to the cause.
All the proceeds made at the “Bake for Boston” Student Council bake sale will be donated to “The One Fund Boston.” “The One Fund Boston” is a fundraiser that helps raise money to help those families most affected by the tragic events that occurred during the Boston Marathon. Rebecca Filgueiras, one of the vice presidents of Student Council stated, “It was a good fundraiser for a very worthy cause!” Mackenzie Cutruzzula, historian of Student Council, chimed in by stating, “Also, it got students involved and allowed them to help the victims in Boston in a very simple and easy way.” Thank you all for making a difference in helping Boston victims and stopping by the bake sale!
