This fall, 10th and 11th graders took the PSAT. The PSAT is a standardized test administered by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States. The PSAT is an assessment tool that indicates how students may perform on the SAT. Before taking the test, our students set a goal for themselves, striving to achieve a score of 155 or higher. Those who reached this goal were rewarded and became members of the newly established 1550 club.
The concept of the 1550 club is to aid students in aiming high and establishing goals for themselves. Goal setting is vital, as it motivates students in an academic setting. When certain goals are not reached, students should be urged to worker harder, not to be discouraged. Mr. Kenny stated that he wanted to see the goals of students being accomplished. Those who met their goals were recognized by receiving a certificate and one free pass for home sporting events for the remainder of the school year. Congratulations to the select students that set high goals for themselves and met them with excellence! Let’s hope that the number of members will significantly increase in the near future!
