Fordham University Open House
On October 14th, Fordham University held a campus wide open house exclusively for seniors in high school. The event—held at Fordham’s Lincoln Center in Manhattan—was full of seniors from all over the tri-state area along with students from farther away. The day began with an Admissions and Financial Aid presentation along with a Student Life Presentation. After the riveting welcome address from the University president, Joseph McShane, the guests were led into a fair where most majors, student clubs and school organizations had set up tables to talk to prospective students; guests were also offered a delicious lunch.
The best part came after: the student-led campus tour. First stop were the freshmen dorms on the 22nd floor of a high-rise building; up the elevator and onto the floor with a movie and theater theme, guests were allowed to peek into a typical freshman dorm and the view alone would suffice for four years. The tour passed through libraries, art studios and cafeterias and was a wonderful introduction to the campus and university. It was also amazing to see actual students studying and working in class and in the library. The end of the campus tour marked the end of the open house yet it didn’t mark the end of Fordham for many of the prospective students. What a wonderful university!
