Eric Lavin has certainly proven to be one of NAHS’s finest in his past four years as a student. As someone who is fully committed to his classes and grades, Eric is enrolled in four AP classes: Biology, Calculus, Literature and European History. When asked which class was his favorite, he eagerly responded, “By far my favorite class is AP European History. I love this class mostly because of Miss Smith and the subject matter greatly interests me.” In addition to be in the top twenty of his class, Eric also maintains a 3.7 GPA and is involved in a multitude of afterschool activities. Said activities include being Historian of the National Honor Society, President of the Spanish Honor Society and an active member of the Student Council.
In the fall, Eric will be attending either Seton Hall University or Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. Furthermore, Eric is planning to major in Education with a possible minor in Business. When asked what his dream job would be, Eric was quick to answer, “My dream job would be to become a college professor and teach a foreign language.” In ten years time, Eric hopes to have completed his bachelor’s degree and possibly be working on furthering his education with a master’s.
Eric’s favorite quote is, “ ‘The human person finds their perfection in seeking and loving what is true and good.’ In other words, if you stick to and look for honesty and the good things in life and act the same way, then you will go far, you will live a fine life, and you will do whatever it is that is meant to be.” Eric’s final thoughts of the interview dealt with feelings regarding his upcoming graduation, “People always told me four years ago that it ‘will go by quickly’ and at first you think otherwise to yourself, but in retrospect, you see how right they were.” Though Eric’s time here at North Arlington High School is quickly coming to a close, it is clear that Eric will continue to achieve great things in life.
