Senior Spotlight – Cassandra Servitis
In her senior year at NAHS, Cassandra is a shining example of what it means to be a well-rounded student! Cassie has lived in North Arlington since she was a baby–she’s a true Viking! Staying true to that Viking spirit, Cassie is motivated by being able to see her friends, interacting with her classmates, and being able to joke around with teachers and peers, as well as her dog and family members. In addition to being such a loving and social butterfly, Cassie is also academically successful ; currently, she is thriving with straight A’s and a 4.0 GPA! Furthermore, she participates in several extracurriculars such as the Viking Saga, the SADD/Interact Club, Multicultural Club, Culinary Club, Self-Improvement Club, Student Council, Peer Mentor, and is part of the Class of 2021 Committee. She also used to cheer for Varsity and play volleyball her sophomore and junior year, and was in crew for the Drama Department during her freshman and sophomore years.
Cassandra stresses the importance of extracurricular activities as she believes, “They help you get to know others and you’d be surprised how much you have in common with others.” She also feels, “That getting involved can help take your mind off of things going on that could be stressful to someone.’’ While Cassie is an outstanding student inside of school, she also participates in several hobbies outside of school! In her spare time, she enjoys baking/cooking, doing special effects makeup, and watching romance, comedy, and horror films. Seeing Cassandra’s special effects makeup firsthand, I can assuredly say that it is truly amazing. As a Peer Mentor, Cassie tends to speak to younger crowds very often. She advises the younger students not to slack off, to prioritize their grades over sports or extracurricular activities, and to ask for help if they need it. She reminds younger audiences that this is what our teachers, as well as everyone else in the building, are there for!
After high school, Cassandra wishes to attend a 4-year college in order to earn her bachelor’s or master’s degree. She believes that she will most likely major in business and accounting and then plans to get a well-paying job in her field with her degree. We all wish Cassandra the best of luck and success, and with all of her outstanding achievements, we have no doubts that she can accomplish anything she puts her mind to! Cassandra says, “Although this year wasn’t the best because of COVID-19, do not take high school for granted. I never thought I’d miss it as much as I do.” Not only will you miss high school, but we at the school will miss you too!
