She cooks, she cleans, and she makes sure you stay on the right track. Every day of the year she’s a superhero, so on Sunday May 12, give your mom the recognition she deserves.
The story of celebrating mother’s day is derived from ancient Greece, where the people were making great festivals in the spring for a goddess called Rhea, who was also the mother of the Gods. As the time went by, they started to celebrate mothers on the same day. In the USA Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1872, in Boston. In 1907, Anna M. Jarvis tried to make this day a national holiday. She wanted to put it on the second Sunday of May, and succeeded only in 1914, when Woodrow Wilson, president of the United States made Mother’s Day a national holiday.
On this day show your mom you care with anything big or small. Melissa Gilmour stated, “I love spending the day with my mom, she deserves a relaxing day.” From do it yourself gifts to a store bought card, your mom will appreciate any effort. Teddy bears and kindles are popular gifts for this holiday. No mom would ever turn away flowers! Sara Rozycki is planning, “-To take my mom to lunch because she always packs mine!” And when all else fails a simple, “thank you” will make your mom’s day. Moms give you the gift of their love every day, so on May 12 give them a day off or day out to show your love.
