It’s that time of year again but with a twist. North Arlington High School Boys Football team is starting off with a winning record of 3-1. Last weekend they achieved a victory against Pompton Lakes with a final score of 35 – 0. The NAHS football team captains of this year are: Devin Rivas (#7) who is the star quarterback, Dante SanGiacomo (#1) an outstanding linebacker, and Kyle Villani (#15), a great wide receiver and free safety. Kyle Villani talks about how the football team is “a great group of kids who are very athletic all around, we’re all special in our own ways and definitely making it to states this year.”
Next, the North Arlington High School cheerleading team is also off with a great start. The cheerleading captains of the year are: Nancy Kajo, Sarah Karcic, and Gianna Rizzi. According to captain Nancy Kajo, a great backspot, “From the beginning of our summer practices to now we have improved so much on our stunts. Some of our freshmen have never been thrown in the air before and now they’re hitting stunts easily. We definitely have our moments where we don’t hit, but at the end of the day every half time show up until now has been wonderful.” This group of teammates continues the tradition of team bonding even through the tough times of Covid.
Last but not least introducing the NAHS Marching Band. The drum majors of fall 2022 are: Mark Barbosa an amazing trumpeter, Kayla FitzSimons an efficient flutist, and a very talented flutist Delia Lasek. The color guard captains of this year are: Angelina Antorio and Paveneet Kaur. Mark and Kayla are the returning drum majors from last year. Mark notes that he has “been through a lot of stress but if it wasn’t for my fellow bandmates I wouldn’t be where I am musically today.” Mark is looking forward to Mr. Fedorenko’s leadership.
