The North Arlington Police Department received two new Harley Davidson motorcycles as an addition to their motorcycle squad. These bikes were donated by the Holy Cross cemetery. They were gifted during the ceremony at the cemetery for Holy Cross’s newest addition of mausoleums on January 10.
The police department was initially presented with the check for these vehicles last year. They were then planned, designed and ordered. After the manufacturing and delivery they were sent out for special additions and markings. The total amount of funds for the bikes was $80,000.
The motorcycles are top-notch, with premium equipment used for parades, funeral processions, and other special additions. They also feature lights and sirens. The motorcycles have already been sent to get marked with the NAPD logo and insignia, marking them as police vehicles, as well as the Catholic cemeteries logo, showing the partnership between the two.
Mayor Dan Pronti commends the NA Police for the motorcycles, “These new motorcycles are excellent additions to our existing fleet. They are high quality, highly versatile pieces of equipment which will enhance the police department’s ability to navigate through major events and make their day-to-day responses more versatile. We want to thank the cemetery for recognizing how these additions will provide much needed assistance with the many funeral processions we assist throughout the borough on a daily basis.”
These motorcycles are a great gift that allows the police department to excel even higher than it already does. It grants police officers another way to get around faster to help the citizens of North Arlington.
