With the beginning of the year steaming full speed ahead, many seniors are beginning to become overwhelmed with their college decisions. By this point in time, most seniors are finalizing their “college wish lists” in attempts to narrow down their search to a select few schools in order to begin applying. Luckily, the guidance department is there to help. One of the school’s guidance counselors, Mrs. Fuller, was eager to give some helpful tips on the subject. She said, “Make sure to apply early, check all deadlines, ask teachers and parents to proof-read all of your work and applications, and finally, keep your counselor updated.” Not only are the counselors in guidance available to answer any questions and concerns, but they also have facilitated the college search for students by bringing various colleges right into North Arlington High School.
From October to December colleges and universities will be visiting the high school during lunch and other periods to offer information/presentations and interview for instant decision. Among some of the esteemed schools are William Patterson University, NJCU, and Felician College. For the full list with dates please visit, http://www.narlington.k12.nj.us/NAHS-Guidance_Home.htm.
In addition, make sure to sign up in guidance to reserve a spot for each date. In order to aid with paying tuition, counselors have set up “Naviance” which is a website that not only helps with the whole college planning process but assists students in discovering various scholarships that they may be eligible for. Please visit guidance for your password information.
For any further information visit your guidance counselor and/or visit these websites provided by the guidance department, http://www.narlington.k12.nj.us/NAHS_CollegeAdm.htm. On a final note, Mrs. Fuller offered this piece of advice to frazzled students, “Take a deep breath and remember that you are not alone.”
